Woke up at 6am and decided to walk and check the facilities of CamSur Wakeboarding Complex. Since our call time for today’s rapid assessment is 9am, I still have the time to take photos and videos of the complex.
We started our day in the OPCEN to report on yesterday’s assessment. After our report and gathering the updated data we had a quick breakfast and proceeded to Buhi, Camarines Sur.
At the municipal hall entrance, we met the former vice mayor. The timing is perfect because the Mayor was there. Our team discussed the different plans for mass evacuation in natural disasters.
Before ending the discussion, they served us lunch. We continued exchanging ideas of different plans for the landslide prone areas.
We proceeded to lake Buhi with Coast Guard and Regional Emergency Assistance Communications Team (REACT) and cruise going to Brgy. Iraya. After 20 minute boat ride, we reached the barangay. Massive landslide buried hectares of ricefield, houses, school buildings and caused deaths and some missing.
I took aerial shots using our drone and was shocked with devastation brought by the tropical depression usman. After the flight, we went back to our boat and headed back to the municipal hall.
From the municipal hall, we checked their evacuation centers for updated data then we traveled to Legazpi, Albay. We had dinner at 1st Colonial Grill and to cap the day we tried their famous Sili ice cream.
PS. I’m trying to do my blog daily. I hope I can complete the entire 2019…
